Donations

It seems absolutely unreasonable that we should have to donate to an organisation that we did not want to join in the first place.  Sadly, if it were not for the fundraising and gifts made in memory of our loved ones, we would not be able to keep the office open, print and post the newsletter, provide support groups, post out grief packages and anniversary cards, and have two support phone lines open.  These few items cost over $35,000 per annum with donations in kind from companies.  Without the held of "friends" this would cost us $48,000 per year.

As many of you may know, after 29 years in Western Australia, we are not funded by any government bodies, and rely on the generosity of our members and lots of fundraising throughout the year by a small and dedicated band of volunteers.

All donations received are tax deductible.  We are aware that times are financially tough and that you donate when you are able.  It is also tough with our grief and just trying to get through each minute and each day.  Therefore, we know that when the time is right you may donate to The Compassionate Friends of Western Australia.

So please, we encourage you to support us when you are feel able, or to approach businesses you think may be able to support us, maybe with fundraising, casual dress days or donations of products or services.  Or you even may feel able to give a couple hours for our street appeals, or get involved in some of our fundraising activities.

We must emphasise that we do not expect new bereaved families to contribute financially, as in the initial stage of grief that is the last thing you are, and should, be thinking about.

Thank you in anticipation of your support, so that we may continue to help others, as we hope we may have helped you.
